Thank you for visiting our website! And welcome to St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Palm Desert, California. Our parish was founded in 1978 by a small yet devoted group of Greek Orthodox communicants who, for many years, longed to establish a parish in the Palm Desert area. Their faithful mission was not only to create a place of worship—through which they could participate fully in the Sacramental Life of our Greek Orthodox Christian Faith—but also to bring a Greek Orthodox Christian presence to this spiritually fertile desert community nestled in the heart of Southern California’s Coachella Valley.

The seed of faith that was planted in 1978 has, by the grace of God, blossomed into a thriving and dynamic parish. We offer a variety of inspiring ministries: from our dedicated Choir and charitable Ladies Philoptochos Society, to our Orthodox Bible Studies and Sunday School classes, as well as other outreach ministries organized and run by our parishioners.

Sunday and weekday church services at St. George begin with the Orthos at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. Visitors are always welcome. If you plan on moving to the beautiful desert cities area, come and join our parish, take part in our positive ministry to God’s glory and witness for yourself this “Miracle in the Desert!” May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ always bless you.

HOLY CONFESSION

Those who wish to participate in the Sacrament of Holy Confession are asked to make an appointment with the parish priest by calling our parish office at (760) 568-9901, or (760) 880-5869. Appointments can be made at the convenience of those who wish to have the Confession prayers read for them by the priest.

A few points to have in mind:
 - One is never to despair of God's loving forgiveness of sins. It is never too late to return to God and to heal our relationships with others with God's help.
 - Consider the ways by which you can correct the sins and wrongs that have been committed by taking responsibility for sharing God's love with others.
 - The "payment" for our sins amounts to our death. However, the True God and our Savior Jesus Christ paid for our sins upon the Cross by dying in our place, trampling death by His death. What we are to do is to repent and turn back to God through His Only-Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Thus, the thought of "paying" for our sins is a mistake in our thinking; instead, we are to repent of our sins and live for God.
